“The BetaLoop” is a short film made with Connecticut Filmworks for the 2018 New Haven 48 Hour Film Project. We had 48 hours to write, film, and edit the whole project. I did the editing during the competition and also after for the “director’s cut.”
In the end, we won runner-up best picture, the audience award for group A, best sound design, and best special effects.

The default ingest settings inside the Adobe Premiere Pro Ingest Settings tab are not very good, especially on a PC where Pro Res is not an option. To fix this, I created two presets within Adobe Media Encoder that convert footage, either 23.976 fps or 59.94 fps, down to 1080p DNX LB proxies at a target bitrate of 36 Mb/s.
